Federal Conservation Programs
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), oversees a variety of federal funding programs. NRCS offers voluntary programs to eligible landowners and agricultural producers to provide financial and technical assistance to help manage natural resources in a sustainable manner.

State Cost-Share FundsThe Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District manages state cost-share funds. Fund allocations are made to the soil and water conservation districts, commissioners set priorities for their use, and the field office staff assure the technical quality of practices built. State cost-share funds can be used for temporary or permanent practices.

State Loan ProgramThe Washington County Soil and Water Conservation District coordinates loans in cooperation with financial institutions from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS).
